March 7 2019 – Gratitude

We have a new Natural High Fitness Blog!!  We’ve been asked for a long time to post answers to frequent questions, and to share our thoughts on topics of relevance in the fitness world today.  This is our new way to respect those requests.  Welcome!  We hope you enjoy the info we share and we very much look forward to engaging with you.

We’re also excited to welcome a variety of contributors.  We have an abundance of knowledge in our community and we’d like to take full advantage of it.  So we’ve invited a physio, chiro, chef, acupuncturist, massage therapist, athletic therapist, and nutritionist to contribute as well.  We’re confident this team will be of great value to you and to us as we journey together to better health and wellness.

Topics we’ve been asked about just in the past couple of weeks include electromagnetism, nutrition, paleo cooking, cardio exercise, hydration, lots of exercise questions, and of course the CrossFit Open.  Trust me, we’re excited to tackle your questions on those topics.  But to start, as the primary contributor to this forum, I’d like to start with a few words on gratitude.

‘Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for the future’, says writer Melody Beattie.  A very quick google search of gratitude will conjure a huge database of the benefits of gratitude in your life.  Not least are the following, which I totally stole from the Happier Human website.

In addition to these, I’d add that a spirit of gratitude can be of benefit to your spiritual life, family life, and community life as well.  So, to not belabour the science of this, or the further list off benefits, I want to express my gratitude.  What am I grateful for?  All of you.  Trust me when I say, without my Natural High Family, my family life would suffer, my emotional state would be affected, my spiritual life would flounder, obviously my career would be very different, my health would suck, and I’d be a lot less fun to be around.  You guys are such a big part of my life.  And of course my family is everything to me and I wouldn’t trade them for the world, but my Natural High Community gives me a purpose outside of my home.  I love the quote by Howard Thurman, in which he says, ‘Do not ask what the world needs.  Ask what makes you come alive!  Then go and do that, because the world needs people who have come alive!’.  You make me come alive, and so to each of you reading this, who have been a part of our Natural High Family for so much of my professional life, thank you.  My gratitude runs deep for you.

Again, I hope you find usefulness in this new forum.

Andrew
